No shocking result in a game when fourth rankedGigantes (7-5) beat bottom-ranked Yauco (3-7) in Carolina 84-79 on Friday. However just five-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. Carolina forced 19 Yauco turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists. The winners were led by American-Jordanian guard Aisha Sheppard (175-1998, college: Virginia Tech) who scored that evening 28 points, 5 assists and 4 steals and American forward Teana Muldrow (188-1995, college: WVU) supported her with 19 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists. Even 26 points and 6 rebounds by American power forward Sidney Cooks (193-1998, college: Seton Hall) did not help to save the game for Yauco . The former international guard Zaida Gonzalez (175-2003, college: Stony Brook) added 17 points and 5 assists. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Carolina moved-up to third place. Yauco lost fourth consecutive game. Newly promoted team dropped to the bottom position with seven games lost. They share it with Leonas.
